Stena Seatrader was built in 1973 by shipyard A. Vuyk & Zonens for Stena RoRo. Once launched, she was chartered out to numerous operators as C.N. Railways or Marine Atlantic.

In 1976, she was lengthened by 32m in Howaldtswerke shipyard, increasing her freight capacity.

She was renamed in 1982 Stena Searider, keeping being chartered out to other operators. She has been chartered between December 1986 and early-1987 by Brittany Ferries. It is believed that Stena Searider served the Roscoff - Plymouth route during her charter to Brittany Ferries.

Stena Searider was shortened by a few meters during summer 1987, but was widen with the addition of sponsons, which enhanced her sea-keeping ability. Her car deck was also refurbished in order to enable her to carry freight trains. She was later renamed Stena Scanrail, for operation between Frederikshavn and Göteborg for Stena Line.

She was sold in late-2015 to a Turkish ferry operator.
