Unsatisfied by the trial of a catamaran with the charter of Condor 6 in 1980, Condor Ltd decided in 1984 to order a further hydrofoil for its services between the Channel Islands to themselves and Saint-Malo, where she was competing against Emaraude Lines. Therefore, Rodriquez delivered Condor in 1985 a new hydrofoil that was christened as Condor 7.
In September 1986, following a strike of Sealink’s crews, preventing its ships from sailing between Great Britain and the Channel Islands, Condor decided to provide services between Weymouth and the Channel Islands for impacted customers, operated with Condor 7. This service proved to be popular and hence Condor decided to establish a regular service the following summer on this route. The service was operated by Condor 7 in 1987, replaced by Condor 5 the following year. Condor Ltd has been helped in the opening of this service by the Channel Islands’ governments, which were wanting this service to be established. Condor 7 was leaving at morning Saint-Malo, heading to Weymouth via the Channel Islands and then going back to Saint-Malo during the afternoon.
Condor 7 was sold in 1994.
