Following the launch of its service from Weymouth to the Channel Islands, Condor decided to purchase a new ship to replace Condor 5, sent to Weymouth, on the Saint-Malo service. However, the company chose not to order a further hydrofoil to Rodriquez shipyard, deciding to purchase a new catamaran, seven years after the failure of Condor 6’s trials.

Condor 8 was introduced on the Saint-Malo service in 1988, and remain operated by Condor until October 1997. It was actually planned to replace her in the fleet the following season with the service resuming of Condor 10, however Condor 8 has been eventually replaced by Condor Vitesse.

Sold, Condor 8 was renamed Waterways 1. She was sold again in January 2000, to SNAV. Her new owner changed her name to SNAV Aries, and introduced her on a route linking Anzio and Ponza, in Italy.
